3.3 caught at midwicket! He moves outside leg stump and the bowler follows him, the batsman then tries to swat it over midwicket but gets a bit cramped for room and ends up playing it straight to the hands of Ontong 29/1
11.1 and there is a run-out now! The batsman went for a reverse sweep, and didn't get hold of it. It just lobbed towards short third-man but drops a foot ahead of him. By this time the batsman from non-striker end has already started charging And Shahzad is too late to set off. The throw goes to the non-striker's end where it is an easy run out 112/2
16.3 bowls full outside off, and the batsman somehow gets under it and slams it over covers for a boundary. He slid as he played that shot as well. OH NO! His backfoot has slipped a long way and it has disturbed the stumps. What a horrible way to get out after such a super innings. Well played Hafeez, but Misbah holds on to the highest T20 score by a Pakistani batsman 170/4
14.4 caught at extra cover! He swats the short of length delivery outside off straight into the hands of extra cover. He could have hit that anywhere really and would feel he has missed out while everyone is enjoying themselves. Good over this one till now 155/3
16.5 caught at short third-man! And now Malik falls. He tries to steer the short of length delivery between backward point and short third man, but the ball comes slow at him and mucks up his timing as he ends up just guiding it straight to the fielder 171/5

17.6 caught at deep cover! It is a slower ball outside off, the batsman has to generate his own power as he looks for a six, but it goes as far as the deep cover area. I guess it was the pressure of not scoring much in this over. 174/6
19.4 caught at deep midwicket! And they keep finding the fielders in the deep. It was a slower ball outside off, Gul goes across the line but top-edges that one. It goes miles in the air but doesn't get much distance. The fielder from deep midwicket runs around and takes it comfortably 190/7

5.4 Oh that is the big wicket! Irfan bowls a quick yorker on off stump and AB, who had moved outside the leg side, gets a faint inside edge and it rattles the stumps. This is it. 53/5
1.6 caught at mid-on! Completely beaten by the slower ball. It was on off stump and the batsman gets his timing completely wrong as he ends up lobbing it tamely towards mid-on. 20/1
4.2 caught behind! Would you believe it. It is caught by Kamran Akmal, on the second attempt. It was a length delivery on off stump and the batsman tries to again go over the top, he gets a faint edge and it goes straight to the keeper, who fumbles it once but manages to hold on to it. 50/2
4.3 caught at third man! it is two in two now. The batsman moves outside the leg stump in an attempt to launch the first ball over the off side, but he gets a big outside edge that flies to third-man fielder. Morris goes first ball 50/3
4.6 it is number three now, the batsman shuffles across to play a flick to this full delivery on the middle. He misses and it is a straightforward call for the umpire. That was hitting middle. Three in the over 51/4
6.1 caught at point! The ship is sinking and sinking fast. Gul has four off seven balls. It was a length ball on off. Behaardien flashes at that one and Ahmed Shahzad takes a fine diving catch at point. 53/6
9.6 what a catch, it is Shahzad again at backward point. Miller tries to cut a delivery which is too close and gets a thick outside edge that flies between short third-man and backward point fielder. Shahzad goes running to his right and plucks the catch from thin air. Great effort. There was Irfan at short third-man and he was not expected to dive for that 67/7
11.5 caught at short fine leg! Peterson tries to go with a kind of switch hit, but the ball is fired towards his leg stump and he only manages to get a top-edge that lobs towards the left of Afridi at short fine. 98/9
11.4 caught at deep extra cover! The fun is over. He takes a tiny step down the pitch and tries to send this to long-off but ends up slicing it towards deep extra cover where the fielder takes a simple catch 98/8
12.2 short ball on the body, the batsman gets a top-edge, the ball lobs up for Kamran Akmal to take an easy catch. Gul gets his five-for 100/10

Match Notes

  • SA seek root of T20 toil

The lack of a major franchise tournament capable of attracting the best players in the world could be undermining the international side

  • Criticism of Whatmore was unfair - Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez animatedly defended everyone in the Pakistan setup, specifically the coach Dav Whatmore, with even more gusto than he celebrated their 95-run victory

  • We were outplayed in the field - du Plessis

Before the Powerplay had ended, South Africa knew they had lost the match. Focusing on that would not give proper attention to where they were actually defeated and du Plessis believed that was on the field

  • Hafeez, Gul demolish South Africa

Mohammed Hafeez and Umar Gul turned their tour around to take Pakistan to an emphatic victory and leapfrog three places on the ICC rankings to No.3
