It's all over, Pakistan win by 8 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series. Junaid kept his nerve, despite expensive figures earlier on, but it was Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal who tightened the noose in the final over. England didn't bat badly but they left themselves with a little too much to do, failing to appreciate that Misbah had a couple of maverick aces tucked up his shirt sleeve. Still, a closely fought game, sixes, wickets, cheerleaders ... Everyone goes home happy. Oh, and Umar Gul was Man of the Match. Have a good night, ta ra!

  • At last, the people come

ESPNcricinfo presents the Plays of the Day from the 1st T20 between Pakistan and England in Dubai

  • Misbah gets his measures right

There's nothing flash about Misbah-ul-Haq's captaincy but his calm response to adversity helped set a winning platform for his bowlers

  • Gul and Ajmal deny England at the death

England won the toss and decided to bowl in their first T20 encounter in World Cup year. Stuart Broad's side will hope to continue the excellent form from the ODI series and set a platform for their World T20 defence in October.

  • Focus turns to World Twenty20

Pakistan could be forgiven for a certain lack of enthusiasm as they approach the final stage of their three-series contest against England in the UAE. Beaten, homesick and recovering from flu, the Pakistan team looked a dispirited bunch by the time Englan
