13.1 there's the wicket, Finn gets rid of Butt. A good length angled across Butt, who drives rather limply, really, and it's a thick edge easily taken at second slip 9/2

18.5 Broad gets one to jag back sharply off the seam to strike Ali on the front pad, big appeal, and Steve Davis gives him out! Ali briefly thinks about referring it, consulting with Umar but then trudging sadly off for a 32-ball duck. Even if he had referred it, the decision would have stood. He was struck on the line of off stump, and the so the umpire's call could not be over-turned 29/4

14.2 what a catch from Prior! Pitched up by Anderson, drawing Malik forward and swinging away late to take a thick edge. The ball flew towards first slip, but was dipping and wouldn't have reached him... and so Prior leapt across to snatch the chance inches from the ground. Another one bites the dust... 12/3

23.6 this one keeps low and moves sharply in off the seam to hit Umar on the back pad. He's given out lbw, and decides not to refer the decision. Why? He was hit well outside the line, and though the ball would've hit the stumps the referral would've saved him. He did look plumb first up, but surely they should at least have tried the referral. Too late now, he's gone 33/5

34.3 oh dear, Amin has gone! He was starting to look positive, but a thick edge is really well snapped up by Collingwood hurling himself to his right at third slip, great catch 63/7

24.3 Haider goes first ball! Back of a length from Broad, the ball didn't move too much but the line and length were spot on. Haider just pushed at it tentatively, got a little feather to it, and Prior snaffles the regulation chance. Pakistan in disarray! Haider just walks off, not even considering the referral. He must've known that he hit it. Carnage! 36/6

37.2 wonderful catch! Amir tries for the big aerial off drive again, but doesn't time it and Cook runs back from mid-off with the flight of the ball, keeps his eye on the ball all the way and eventually has to dive to complete the catch, really well done 67/9

35.6 and there's another one! Anderson was just pitching it up, tempting Gul to drive and he's gone after it, with a thick edge flying away to Pietersen at gully 64/8

39.3 There it is - Anderson finishes with four. A straight bouncer was too much for Asif to handle, it lobbed off the shoulder of the bat to Pietersen at gully 72/10

12.6 we're going to have a review here. Amir swung one back in sharply, there were two sounds as the ball snuck through bat and pad and Zulqarnain held on to the take behind the stumps. Steve Davis didn't think that was out, but Pakistan were convinced... And they're right! Big inside edge onto the pad, Strauss goes! 44/2

11.3 you won't need a referral for that! Asif digs in a short one to take Cook somewhat by surprise. He was actually done in by the lack of pace on the bouncer there, getting through the shot too quickly as the ball hit the back of the bat/glove and ballooned gently to second slip. 54.3 good catch! Amin makes the breakthrough! Trott cuts hard and the sub fielder Yasir Hameed at gully picks up a sharp catch low to the ground 177/3

63.1 the tamest of dismissals! Pietersen has had a charmed innings, and he had looked slightly scrappy after the break. Ajmal flights one on middle and leg from round the wicket and Pietersen just chips it right back at him ever so gently. 205/4

77.1 pushed through by Ajmal, it was the doosra and not picked by Collingwood, who was looking to play the ball to leg, but the ball rushed straight on to take the outside edge of his bat and Farhat - who had replaced Hameed at slip - is in action straight away, holding on to a sharp catch 248/7

66.6 regulation nick, Morgan is out caught behind! Asif strikes straight away! The wicket was a reward for exemplary line and length from the bowler, who landed the ball on a length in the channel and just got it to seam away slightly from the left-hander. Morgan prodded defensively from the crease at a ball he had to play and was done in by the seam movement. Another breakthrough for Pakistan, and that might be just the lift they so desperately needed to get back into this competition 220/5

73.6 Prior bends down to sweep and is struck on the front pad, huge appeal for lbw and Marais Erasmus agrees! Prior asks for the review... but that is plumb! A second wicket for Ajmal, and Pakistan are making inroads into England's line-up now 243/6

83.1 five wickets for Ajmal! Swann tried to slog sweep, but the ball just bounced on him and took the top edge and looped straight up. Just to be sure, Ajmal called for it himself and held onto the catch to secure his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket 251/10

77.4 great reflex catch! Hameed makes up for his earlier lapse with a good take at leg slip. Ajmal pushed this one through quite fast again, the ball bounced more than Broad was expecting and just rushed on to him as he tried to glance to leg. The ball goes off the inside edge of the bat to Hameed, who held on to it inches off the turf. A fourth wicket for Ajmal! 248/8

82.1 Amir strikes! Anderson is removed lbw, and that was adjacent enough that he didn't even bother to review it. He had been playing from the crease with minimal foot movement, so the lbw was always on. Yep, replays suggest that would have taken leg stump out. 251/9

29.3 what a stunner! That's one for the family album and he'll rarely bowl a better ball. It dipped in towards leg stump, gripped and hit the top of off as Farhat lunged forward without a chance of playing it. You won't see better. Another first-over wicket for Swann and he's having an impact straight away 53/2

2.6 Butt is gone! What a superb delivery from Anderson! That was a magnificent outswinger that started on leg stump and moved sharply away, it found an edge and was snapped up at first slip by Strauss 1/1

31.3 Swann gets another, and what a good ball yet again! That one was tossed up outside off, tempting Azhar into a drive but he didn't get to the pitch of it and the ball has spun back sharply through the gate to rattle his stumps 54/3

38.2 oh, Malik is gone! A good ball from Finn jags back off the seam and Malik tries to leave it alone, but the ball follows him and clips the glove on the way through to Prior. 76/4

39.2 gone! Oh, Umar Akmal, what are you doing? He's shouldered arms and left a Swann ball that turns in just a little from outside off, he's given lbw and asks for a review, but HawkEye shows that clipping the bails, so the decision stands 82/5

47.1 very smart work from Prior and Amin has gone! Beautiful work behind the stumps from Prior, Amin just stretched too far forward, dragging his back foot a fraction out of his crease, the ball spun past the edge and Prior had the bails off in a flash! Swann has another and Pakistan are crumbling... 101/6

110.1 gone! Haider's vigil ends and Swann has six! Haider chipped a drive towards mid off, Strauss ran a couple of steps and dived forward to pouch an excellent catch. Shame he couldn't have made a hundred but a fantastic innings from Haider 269/9

83.3 gone! Broad gets the breakthrough! Success at last for England! Similar delivery to the last ball, outside off on a length, Amir aimed an ambitious drive but could only outside edge to a grateful Strauss at first slip 153/7

108.2 gone this time! Swann has his man! The angle from round the wicket does the job, pushes across the right hander, gets an outside edge and Collingwood tumbles to catch. Swann has five and it has ended a fine, fine innings 268/8

117.5 gone! That's that...Asif fends off into the gully where Pietersen takes a simple catch. Back of a length from Broad and the No. 11 just guided it to KP. 296/10
