And .. they have agreed to terminate the game. South Africa have won the series. Graeme Smith grabs the stumps and leads the team off the field. Pakistan team comes out to shake hands. Inzamam-ul-Haq is there at the forefront doing the honours. Smith has a chat with him, so does Ntini and slowly Inzamam turns around and walks back into the dressing room for one last time. Meanwhile, South Africa have won a series in subcontinent, barring Bangladesh, after seven years.
Inzamam walks out to the ground, for the post-match ceremony, where his team-mates give him a guard of honour. The crowd give a standing applause. Please do click here to read the lovely tribute to Inzy from Osman Samiuddin, Cricinfo's Pakistan editor.
Shoaib Malik: "We are playing after seven years. I am happy with the way the guys played this game. Hopefully, we will do well in the ODI series.
"Inzamam bhai supported me a lot, helped me a lot and on behalf of the Pakistan team I would like to thank Inzamam."
Jacques Kallis is the Man of the Match and the Man of the series.
Kallis: "I came into this series fresh from a winter break. It feels good to contribute to the series win."
Smith: "We have come over here and played some really good cricket. We kept Pakistan under pressure from the word go and we can be pleased with the effort. To come over here, to get used the conditions, to pull the game plan has been a really good effort.
On Inzy: "To see a wonderful cricketer retiring is sad but he has left his mark on cricket. Pakistan cricket will miss him and I would like to wish him well for the future."
Smith collects the winner's trophy and walks over to his team-mates.
Next up will be Inzamam. So hang in there!
Inzamam enclosure: PCB have named one stand at the Lahore stadium, the venue where he made his debut, in Inzamam's name.
Inzamam speaks in his native tongue: "I am going today but I would like to thank you for all the support that you all have given me for the last 17 years. I would also like to thank the members of the board for giving me this opportunity. I would like to thank you the selectors also for selecting me for these 17 years. I thank my seniors and colleagues for supporting me. Special mention to the boys, in this team, who played under my captaincy and for extending support.
I thank my family, my brother and sisters. Especially, my father, who would be really sad that I am quitting the game. Also, my wife for supporting me thick and thin through everything.
"Unfortunately I couldn't finish this game on a high. But that's the way it goes sometimes." Inzamam picked the 1992 World Cup as the highlight of his career.
Inzy walks towards his team-mates. Younis Khan gives him a big hug and one by one each and everyone of his team-mates do the same. Shoaib Malik can't hold back his tears.
This is Sriram Veera, signing off. Its a pity that Inzy couldn't finish on a high. But neither did Bradman. Congratulations to South Africa for a tremendous series-win. Now for the rugby world cup. Bring the Argentines on. Alvida!
The game is meandering towards a draw. Will the captains agree to call it off?
