Australia win by 115 runs and secure just their third series victory in Pakistan. They knew it would be hard work but they've done it in the final session. Pat Cummins simply brilliant as a captain and a leader. Nathan Lyon also outstanding today. It all came together perfectly for Australia. It's been a keenly-contest series, but Australia have been the better team. They should have won in Karachi (although Babar Azam was amazing) and have bossed this game. Their use of reverse swing has been masterful and though Pakistan did well with it to, Australia's impact from Mitchell Starc and Cummins has been that bit bigger. A word, too, of course for Usman Khawaja who has been monumental with the bat. He'll probably get Player of the Series, although I'd go for Cummins
Huw: "Tough call between Cummins and Khawaja for man of the match, hoping that Cummins gets it and Khawaja gets a well-deserved man of the series nod"
Brad: "Wow, what a series. Decided on the final session. Thankyou so much Pakistan, so wonderful to see the hospitality there. Can't wait for the next series there!"
Big Max: "Loved the fight of both teams. Pakistan played very, very well, the difference being Australia's experienced bowling attack. Excellent respect shown throughout between the two teams, and a little bit of Afridi-Warner love helped to make this a memorable series. Kudos to Babar Azam and Pat Cummins for the spirit their teams plyed this series in. Just love Test cricket! For Pakistan, the future looks rosey."
Justin: "It's great to have cricket back in Pakistan. Hell of a top order they have, I don't think the pitches they produced helped them much though. I'm sure they will sort it out and be a much more deadly force next time we tour."
Haseeb: "For once, I am not sad about Pakistan losing. Cricket won. Australia played exceptionally well and are the worthy winners!"
Australia's first overseas Test series win since 2016 and first in Asia since 2011. Big moment for this development team. Next stop, Sri Lanka.
Dan: "Utterly gripping series! I know the pitches haven't been the best, but am I the only one who was happy to see every available day of the tests used? Says something about keeping tests at 5 days! Really unique contest, the true definition of a test!"
The players are swapping shirts and taking photos in the dressing room. Has been played in great spirit throughout
Pat Cummins is Player of the Match and Usman Khawaja is Player of the Series. "We've had a lot of fun," says Khawaja. "Just want to thank Pakistan and the fans. We've had a great time. Everyone has been really welcoming. To win this game is the icing on the cake. I think 350 with four sessions was a good target. I didn't really think they could that score. There was enough in that wicket. Was the hardest wicket I'd batted on. Felt like the hardest hundred I'd got."
Pat Cummins "In the first innings, the way we batted and got ahead of the game was fantastic. Thought 350, if they batted really well they were in the game, but thought if we bowled to our potential it was a long way away. Glad we got there in the end. The trend of the game was the first couple of wickets were really hard to get then the run rate came down and wickets came up. Thought the way we applied ourselves today, everyone was up for it. The really great thing about the whole series, we played well in the Ashes, and each individual's game can be transferred anywhere in the world. Even more than the 15 days, we've been so well looked after. We didn't really know what to expect but it's been an amazing experience. The whole spirit has been fantastic. A lot of fun. It's been even more important than just the result."
So, that's the Test series done and dusted. Australia get the Benaud-Qadir trophy for the first time. Thoughts now turn to the white-ball matches. The first ODI is on Tuesday and we'll be back to bring you full coverage. Also, there's something call the IPL which starts tomorrow. For now, though, I'll wrap things up. From Gnasher, Peter and the rest of the team it's goodbye and thanks for joining us. See you again soon.
