Okay, then. That's all from my side. Hope you enjoyed over coverage. See you soon.
Prakash chandra: "Ravindra Jadeja involved in 3 hundred partnerships with 3 different players in the 1st innings. Is it any record ?" --- Hanif Mohammad was involved in four hundred partnerships during his 337 against West Indies in 1958. I think that's the record. Many people have been involved in three.
Abhinav: "Wouldn't it be the third pink ball test in India?" --- Yes, it will be the third. Looks like Rohit erred there.
Jadeja: This is my lucky ground. Whenever I come here, I always get positive vibes. I was looking to build partnership with wicket. To be honest I don't know about stats [hundred and ten-for] but I am happy to do well with bat and ball. When you perform like this, you feel very confident. I haven't done anything differently with my batting, just backing my instincts. I try to settle down and after that I play my shots. I try to keep it simple. I haven't played with the SG pink ball, so it will be something new. Hopefully, it will be good only after a couple of days of practice. I always love bowling with the SG ball.
Ravindra Jadeja is the Player of the Match.
Rohit Sharma: It was a good start [to my captaincy career]. I never thought it was going to be that kind of a Test that gets over in three days. It was a good batting wicket with help for spinners and seamers. Credit to our bowlers who bowled in tandem and applied pressure. We knew it is a fast outfield and runs would be easier to come if you dig in. We were just waiting for an odd one to bounce differently and their batters to make mistakes. Good signs for Indian cricket, a lot of performances and a landmark Test for Virat. We wanted to first win the game and such individual performances were heartening to see. Someone like Jadeja and Ashwin have played a lot of cricket in India, have taken lots of wickets but what if they are not there? So we wanted to give Jayant also a chance. It was the team's decision and Jadeja's decision on declaration. Shows how selfless he is. It will be the second [third] pink-ball Test in India. It's a different challenge in India than outside. Let's see what kind of wicket we get.
Dimuth Karunaratne: I think the batsmen need to put their hands up and bat longer. We thought the wicket was going to be up and down on day three, so we played three seamers. Unfortunately, we couldn't execute our plans well. We got our calculation wrong. Sometimes we were too defensive, sometimes were too attacking. Sometimes we just needed to take singles and rotate the strike and get to the other side. That's how we can play big innings. I think we did really well in the first two sessions of the game but once the ball got older we couldn't do well. Those are the areas we need to work on.
Time for the presentation ceremony.
Vikas: "Jadeja could score alone the same a Whole team Srilankan scores. And he could take alone more wickets that Srilanka took ! Wow ! What a performance - hats off Sir Jadeja "
Nonymous: "The only talking points from an SL POV: Gritty 50s from Nissanka and Dickwella (on return too). And barely avoiding our worst innings defeat to India from Nagpur few years back. That's it. "
Sr: "Jadeja is one ideal team man, giving the ball to Jayant because he didn't get a chance to ball much and previously sending a message to the change room to declare even when he's about to get to 200. Absolute Rockstar!"
R Ashwin: I think he has really come along the way he has batted in the last four-five years. The number he is batting is a bit low in my opinion. In between, we both realised that Jayant hasn't bowled a lot and someone who is going to be the third spinner, Rohit also gave him a few overs. Sometimes it's not that easy being the third spinner in the side and it's important to look after. Jaddu was magnanimous in giving the ball away. Sometimes I get ahead of myself with the bat but I have worked on things was looking to take one ball at a time. The surface was a really good one, it was not easy to get batters out when they were defending. You had to bowl tight for sustained periods. I think Shami and Jasprit created pressure from the end where it wasn't turning much.
4.11pm A thumping win for India, they beat Sri Lanka by an innings an 222 runs inside three days to take 1-0 lead in the series. He couldn't complete a ten-wicket haul but what a Test for Jadeja. With the bat, he scored an unbeaten 175, then picked up five in the first innings and four in the second. Such was his performance that it completely overshadowed Ashwin's effort who scored 61 and bowled magnificently to pick up six wickets in the game. In the process he went past Richard Hadlee, Rangana Herath and Kapil Dev's Test wicket tally. Also, it seems for a moment everyone forgot this was Virat Kohli's 100th Test.
