9.30pm Those early wickets. That's where this game crossed untenable and into impossible. India's start - that outstandingly rapid partnership between Rohit and Gill - remains the biggest reason SL have lost this game, but they kept fighting. And Dasun Shanaka epitomised that fight, bringing up his second ODI century, and leading their ninth wicket partnership to an unbroken 100. India have taken the series lead and they're usually hard to catch when they play at home.

Shanaka: The start from India's batters and our bowlers didn't use the new ball well. Their bowlers used the swing very well. I think there was a plan, but the bowlers didn't execute it. We need to stick to the stump line and use the slower balls. I think I'm doing the basics well. I think in ODIs, I'm not doing that well and T20Is I might have to go up the order.

Rohit: We started off really well and to get that total was a great effort from all the batters. The platform was set to come out and play freely. I thought we could've bowled slightly better, but don't want to be too critical of it although the dew was not so much. We bowled well as a unit and if you want to win games like this, everyone has to come to the party. There are some areas we need to look at as a group and again it's a team sport. No, I mean I had no idea Shami did that. Again, he's batting on 98 and the way he batted was brilliant. Cannot get him out like that and wanted to get him out the way we wanted to get him out. Hats off to him.

Kohli, Player of the Match: I don't think there was anything different. My preparation and intent always stay the same and I just kept backing my intent. As I said during the mid-innings break, it was very close to the template I play with. I also understood we needed an extra 25-30 runs. The only thing I learnt was desperation doesn't get you anywhere. You have to play for the right reasons and almost play every game like your last and just be happy about it. The game is going to move on and I'm happy with my space.

That is all we have for you from this game. Thanks for your company and comments. Until next time, this is Deivarayan Muthu signing off on the behalf of Sidharth Monga and Thilak Ram. Goodbye and good night.

Som T: "Shanaka took the sheen off Kohli's century and Indian victory and it shows in the players' body language. Not to forget India could not dismiss the tail and Shanaka. Now India cannot post in excess of 350 every time."

joe: "100 run partnership with other batter scored only 9 runs. Amazing and hats off to Shanaka"

BK: "I would rate Shanaka's 108 more entertaining and deserving than Kohli's 113."

Santosh Battula: "To put into perspective, India added 79 runs in the last 10 overs with just 3 wickets down and this pair almost added same amount of runs in the last 10 overs with 8 wickets down."

Rushit: "A 100 partnership with rajitha making only 9!!! Why does Shanaka come so lower down the order to bat????"

Mohammed Shami to Shanaka, SIX, full on the stumps, slot ball, Shanaka lines it up and bashes it over midwicket for another imposing six

Mohammed Shami to Shanaka, FOUR, Century for Shanaka. Sublime innings from the SL captain. Drilled into the cover boundary with immense authority. Subdued celebration. Just short of a yorker length on the leg stump, Shanaka, having backed away, spanks it through the off side. Silverwood is on his feet, applauding Shanaka

Mohammed Shami to Rajitha, 5 runs, short on middle, Rajitha gets into a tangle and fends it to short cover. He races across to the other end and India concede four overthrows

Shami has run Shanaka out at the non-striker's end for backing up too far. He appeals for the run-out. Oh, Rohit has withdrawn the appeal. Shanaka can still get to a hundred

Afeef: "Nice to see Shanaka getting some much deserved attention now. I will always remember that match where he helped SL chase 59 runs off the last 3 overs in a T20I against Australia last year."

Shaan: "I would have given Umran the 50th over so that he could have had some death bowling experience."

Mohammed Shami to Shanaka, no run, very full, just short of a yorker length, tails in to strike the pad, but this is surely heading past leg stump. Shami, though, calls for a review of the on-field not-out decision. Impact outside. It will stay not out

Deepak Nagpal: "Shanaka deserves a place in IPL. Not the one to be left out of a billion dollar festival scheduled shortly."

Kamran: "Shanaka dhamaka"
