Tomorrow, get ready for the Trans-Tasman rivalry between Australia and the red-hot New Zealand team at Dharamshala. Later, Bangladesh will lock horns with the newcomers, Netherlands, at Eden Gardens. For tonight, it's goodbye from me, Rvel Zahid, our very own Killer Miller, and our scoring experts, Ranjith and Chandan Duorah!
Tabraiz Shamsi with his pads on: I knew I had to do a job there but the guys that came before me set it up perfectly you know. Yeah, really happy, you know you played enough cricket as well to understand that sometimes it goes for you sometimes it doesn't so while it's going for me I'm happy to be able to contribute, you know to help the team win I didn't think I'll be able to put my pads on but it actually feels nice. Yeah, the most precious four runs that he was ever scored in life. It's probably most important four runs he has scored it this whole year...the key was really holding your nerves in the end because it's so tempting when you see a spinner to play a big shot and try and finish it early...boys wouldn't welcome me back in the change room. So there was never a doubt in my head that I was going to play a big shot and you know in a funny way it was actually quite nice. You know, these are the type of moments that you train for the big stage
Temba Bavuma, South Africa Captain: It's a bit chaos at the moment, guys enjoying it, Guys picking up Shamsi. Nail-biting finish, if you are a South African fan, you are a little bit happier, we haven't done well in chasing, it will be easier to have those conversations now. I think obviously we have a blueprint, batting first, we have shown, we can't say with conviction we have the blueprint while chasing but we will have the conversations. We obviosuly want to show more clinical display with the bat. (Rabada) is good, he is experiencing lower back spasm, I am sure he will come into contention for New Zealand game. Ecstatic for Shamsi, He came in favourable conditions and exploited it and then with the bat I think you've seen Shamsi on social media gloating about his batting, we needed that today and fortunately for us he came through.
Babar Azam, Pakistan Captain: Very disappointing, we fought back well but we were 10-15 runs short. I think the way fast bowlers bowled, they did well but unfortunately the result was not in our side. (About drs), it's part of the game, this is umpire's call so I think it's just part of the game. I think it's disappointing everyone, we had the opportunity to win this match and stay in the tournament but we missed it. We will try our best in our next three matches and put our effort so let's see where we stand after the three matches.
Presentation ceremony coming up
Kudos to Markram, battling hard in tricky conditions against a charged-up bowling attack, made a brilliant 91 and the night belongs to him. Decent contributions from Miller, Bavuma and de Kock in this tense run chase.
South Africa's juggernaut keeps rolling on. It's a well-oiled batting machine that consistently churns out runs. They faced a bit of a scare when they lost three wickets within the first 20 overs, but then they rode high on confidence and navigated their way through the choppy waters to clinch a thriller. South Africa have arguably been the best team at putting up imposing totals in this World Cup, and they've now achieved another milestone by avoiding a choke. Pakistan may rue being bowled out for 270 without playing their full quota of overs, but they fought valiantly and produced an engrossing contest. This is the first time for Pakistan to lose four consecutive matches at the men's ODI World Cup.
Anusha narreddy: "Bye bye everyone. Catch you in the next match hopefully a thriller. Do publish this message as last comment."
AJ: "Nawaz bowling the last over againâŠbabar never learns"
Shafiq : "Finally a genuine thriller "
Abdul: "Considering other results as normal, if Srilanka beats New Zealand and Afghanistan beats Sri Lanka, Pakistan will have good chance for semi finals."
Ajinkya : "@Proud Chennaite, as an Indian, I am really proud of Chennai crowd. Appreciating good cricket without any bias."
Mohan: "Keshav Maharaj remember the name."
Proud Chennaite: "Chennai.. remember the name.. the only venue that produced 2 close games so far this WC.. and neutral crowd appreciating good cricket from both teams in both games.. and all this even after being rated average by ICC.. "
Malik Murad: "Babar should have given that 48th over to Usama. He was bowling well. What a match though "
Mohan: "ICC eliminated soft signal for umpire's review. What's umpire's call in a LBW player's review? Isn't a soft signal?" Yes, the soft signal has been eliminated.
Which following areas do you think Pakistan have been hit by the most in their World Cup campaign so far? Send us your feedback in Pakistan's remaining three games.
1) Spinners struggling in the middle overs and being unable to build up pressure
2) Babar Azam's wicket at crucial junctures
3) Batters not being able to push on after getting to fifties and finding it tough to switch gears--especially against spinners
4) Babar Azam not being very tactically shrewd and spot-on with bowling and fielding changes in all the matches
5) Fielding lapses
6) You may delve into broader issues in Pakistan's domestic cricket such as lack of One Day cricket and cricketers not playing enough List A games. Also, the abrupt changes in PCB top brass this year and coaching panels may have affected planning for this showpiece event
7) Pakistan squad finding it tough to acclimatise to different conditions keeping into consideration it's their first tour of India
Khalid Mirza : "@45.6 the umpire should have given out then it would have been umpire call and batsman would have been out. Oh umpire what have you done."
