Scotland were kept waiting by rain till evening on the final day before they took the field, and Richie Berrington claimed the two Afghanistan wickets needed to earn his side 13 points from the drawn match in Stirling.
After play finally began twenty minutes past four, the overnight pair of Samiullah Shenwari and Izatullah Dawlatzai stretched their resistance a further 15.4 overs. In all, the ninth-wicket partnership consumed 22 overs before Berrington had Dawlatzai driving for captain Preston Mommsen to take a sharp catch above his head at short extra cover.
Dawlatzai faced 66 deliveries for his 18. Two balls later, Sayed Shirzad was ruled leg-before giving Berrington figures of 4.4-2-2-2 and leaving Shenwari stranded on 51. The allrounder faced 152 deliveries and hit seven fours during his 206-minute stay.
Afghanistan finished on 135 in 61.4 overs in reply to Scotland's 233, and got six points for their efforts.
