Northerns ease to victory

Northerns 203 for 8 (Aronstam 43, de Bruyn 66) defeated Easterns 195 all out (Seymore 48, Wiese 45) by 8 runs
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details

A disciplined bowling performance lifted Northerns to victory against Easterns at Benoni. The visitors elected to bat and piled up 203 for 8, thanks mainly to an unbeaten 66 by Pierre de Bruyn. In reply, Easterns were in the reckoning as long as David Wiese was at the helm. His 45 glued the innings together, but when he was run out by Pierre Joubert in the 40th over (181 for 8) his team became unstuck as Maurice Aronstam and Alfonso Thomas each claimed a second wicket to dismiss the home side just short of their target.

Koortzen made 74 and van Wyk 53 before Corne Linde and Dillon Du Prez took them home in the last over to win by five wickets. Douglas Gain topscored for Gauteng with 95 not out after he won the toss and batted - but his knock was to no avail.

North West 293 for 4 (Akoojee 71, Coetsee 130*) defeated Griqualand 288 for 5 (Bossenger 157*) by 6 wickets
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Werner Coetsee blasted an unbeaten 130 off 138 balls to take North West to victory in a high-scoring encounter at Potchefstroom. Wendell Bossenger chose to bat and promptly took charge of proceedings, bludgeoning 157 not out to lift Griqualand to 288 for 5 from their 45 overs. North West were soon in trouble in their reply at 37 for 3, but Mohammad Akoojee (71) and Coetsee mounted a rescue mission, putting on 135 for the fourth wicket. They never looked back from there, Riyaadh Bhayat joining Coetsee in an unbeaten stand of 122 - Bhayat blasting 47 from 45 balls - to secure victory with six overs to spare. They wasted no time in killing the game off, belting Bradley Lemmetjies for three sixes in what was to be the final over.
