Fantasy Pick: Capitalise on Ishan Kishan showing signs of form

May 9: Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders, 56th Match, DY Patil Stadium

Safe XI: Ishan Kishan (capt), Tilak Varma, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Nitish Rana, Tim David, Andre Russell (vice-capt), Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, M Ashwin, Riley Meredith

Captain: Ishan Kishan

The most expensive buy in the recent auction looks like he is back to form after a string of low scores. Kishan's last innings - 26 (18) and 45 (29) - suggest there is a big score brewing. This will be his first game at DY Patil stadium this season, where he has already recorded a T20 half century.

Vice-captain: Andre Russell

The most prolific allrounder in IPL 2022 has been gobbling up fantasy points both with the bat and with the ball. He has scored 272 runs in 11 games at a strike rate of 183.78 and has got 12 wickets too. Also, 11 of his 12 wickets have come in the second half of the innings, which is the joint most for a pacer along with Dwayne Bravo and T Natarajan.

Hot Picks

Tilak Varma: If there is a ranking for consistency in the league, the 19-year old will be right at the top. Varma has scored the most runs for a batter at No. 4 or below this season - 328 in ten innings at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 136.66. Nobody has scored more runs against spin than him this season - 170 at a strike rate of 150.44 with just one dismissal.

Shreyas Iyer: The KKR captain is the leading run-scorer for his side with 330 runs in 11 games at an average of 33. He has recorded seven scores of 20 or more this season which makes him a must have in a safe XI.

Differential Picks

M Ashwin: Although he was dropped for some games, he is still Mumbai's leading wicket-taker this year with eight wickets in seven games. KKR have lost 24 wickets in nine innings to wristspinners, averaging only 9.58 this season, so Ashwin is an automatic addition in our team. If Mumbai are defending a score then Ashwin can even be given the vice-captaincy role as he has taken 23 of his 34 IPL wickets in the second innings.

Tim David: The hard-hitting finisher was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 21-ball 44 in the last game against Gujarat Titans. Across all T20s in 2022, he has scored the most runs in death overs - 251 in 15 innings at a strike rate of 207.43.

High Risk XI: Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Andre Russell, Daniel Sams, Tim Southee, M Ashwin, Shivam Mavi
