Why is a game blacked out?
ESPN is occasionally obligated to provide alternate programming in some markets due to local/regional coverage of the same event we're televising. Please check your local TV listings to find out which local channel or regional network is covering the game(s) in your area. If the regional television outlet that serves your area isn't available to you, please contact your cable or satellite provider to express your interest in adding it to their channel lineup.
Television Listings for ESPN Networks and sports on ABC
Looking for schedule information directly from the source? Check out our online listings at ESPNTV.com. There you'll find listings for all our networks for about two months in advance of air.
BUT WHAT ABOUT A TRADITIONAL, PRINTED PROGRAM GUIDE?
ESPN doesn't publish a printed guide, but we do send all of our listings to our cable affiliates and various listing outlets, including the Sunday newspaper TV supplements, daily newspapers, local cable guides, etc.
What is ESPN College Extra?
ESPN College Extra brings hundreds of ESPN3 exclusive live college sports events to the TV. The service delivers an extensive portfolio of college sports events year-round including football, basketball, baseball, softball and more. ESPN College Extra will be delivered to fans on up to eight channels through a sports tier or other affiliated TV package. Please contact your provider for more details.

What is WatchESPN?
WatchESPN is available to subscribers across all major television providers in households nationwide. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider. ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through WatchESPN. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. How can I watch live games on ESPN3?
ESPN3 is the interactive home for sports fans to watch live sporting events and programming through a simple to use interface. ESPN3 harnesses the quality ESPN has built through its TV networks and delivers sports programming to fans through a rich interactive and easy-to-use experience. Sports fans are empowered to access compelling live or recently completed events giving 24 hour live coverage everyday. Fans control their sports viewing schedule. A majority of the events are exclusive ESPN3 productions, while others are broadband-enhanced versions of games from one of ESPN's TV platforms.
Copy of an ESPN Telecast or Promo
ESPN, Inc. doesn't release or sell copies of its programming or promos. We generally only have telecast rights to programs on our networks and not tape-distribution rights.
How can I get a copy of an ESPN.com photo?
The photos on ESPN.com are generally purchased from photo stock organizations for use on ESPN.com only. Please check photo credit information and contact the appropriate company.

What does ESPN stand for?
When ESPN started in 1979 we were the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (thus, ESPN). However, that name took too long to paint across our chests on game day, so we dropped it in 1985 and adopted a new corporate name -- ESPN, Inc.-- and a new logo. And by the way, we're a subsidiary of ABC, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co. Also, the Hearst Corporation has a 20% interest in ESPN.

Due to Rights issues, the ESPN International Networks are not available in the United States. There are, however, a variety of international events televised on our U.S. domestic networks, including World Cup soccer, Grand Slam tennis, UEFA Champions League soccer and the World Baseball Classic.
