Thailaind international midfielder Charyl Chappuis has dismissed stories linking him with a move to Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) for the 2018 season.
Reports in the Thai media suggested that JDT were lining up a bid of for the Swiss-born Muang Thong United star ahead of their attempts to win a fifth straight title and to reach the group stages of the AFC Champions League (ACL).
But Chappuis claimed to know nothing of such a bid when he spoke to ESPN FC, having only just joined Muang Thong in June of this year.
Chappuis, who has also played for Buriram United and Suphanburi in the Thai League (T1), is certainly well known to Malaysian fans, having scored twice against them in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup final.
The former Switzerland youth international lost almost 18 months of his career to a knee injury immediately after that final, but has recovered to become a regular starter with the 2016 Thai champions.
Chappuis has adapted his game somewhat since returning from injury and is now a deeper lying midfielder, compared to the more attacking player we saw in 2014. His range of passing and set piece delivery could certainly be an asset to JDT in the event that such a move were to take place.
With Buriram United having regained the T1 title, Chappuis and his teammates are now looking ahead to next week's League Cup final against Chiang Rai United.
Sunday's win against the same opponents sealed second place and an ACL qualification berth, where they may meet JDT again.
The Malaysian side have faced Thai opponents in each of the past three years, including a loss on penalties to Muang Thong in 2016.
