Joe Cole wants to help the next generation of England stars once he retires. The midfielder is eager to aid the development of Three Lions youngsters and give something back to his country.
The former England international has completed his UEFA B coaching licence and will study for his A licence next year.
Cole joined Coventry on loan from Aston Villa in a surprise move this month and is likely to start at Swindon on Saturday after making his debut in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Rochdale.
Despite dropping down to League One, he is not ready to finish playing but Cole is plotting his next step.
He said: "Craig Bellamy is keen on going into it and he is working with under-21s. He is working with young lads and finding his feet. I think that is a better way of learning your trade.
"I have a lot I want to give back. To be honest my ideal first job would be to work with the young England teams because England is a passion of mine and I was lucky enough to have a fantastic career.
"Working with the elite of your country would be a good way to give something back and learn as well. That would be a great job.''
Cole made 56 appearances for the Three Lions and played in three World Cups but dropped down to the Sky Blues in search of regular football after an injury-hit 16 months at Villa.
"You can't stay at the top forever. No one can stay at the top of Everest and live there. You are there, you enjoy your time,'' said the 33-year-old, who won the Premier League three times with Chelsea.
"I am not saying I am not going to play back at the top. I just love playing football and the day I don't is the day I will pack it in. I can still offer a lot to this club
"I have been kicked by the biggest and the best so it [League One] ain't going to bother me.''
