Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa makes Roma move from Newcastle permanent

Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has completed a permanent switch to Roma in a deal thought to be worth 5.5 million pounds.

Yanga-Mbiwa, 25, joined the Serie A side on loan for the season on transfer deadline day in September.

The deal included a clause whereby the move was automatically made permanent when the player made 20 appearances.

It looked as though Roma were having doubts when the centre-back was left out of the starting XI for first two matches after the winter break, but he was recalled for the draw at Palermo and his start against Fiorentina on Sunday triggered the clause.

Yanga-Mbiwa made 46 appearances for Newcastle, who are thought to have made a loss in the region of 1 million pounds on the player.
