Pienaar stars for South Africa

South Africa U19s 245 for 5 (Vandiar 75, Rossouw 66) beat England U19s 182 (Northeast 63, Pienaar 3-28) by 63 runs
ScorecardEngland Under-19s slumped to their second defeat to South Africa in as many days, losing the second ODI by the comprehensive margin of 63 runs in Paarl, with Obus Pienaar turning in a fine display with bat and ball for the hosts. As was the case yesterday, South Africa's allround game was tighter and more disciplined than that of England's who were bundled out for 182 in pursuit of a challenging 246. Unlike yesterday, however, when a number of England's batsmen got starts, only Sam Northeast offered a score of respectability, cracking 63 from 94 balls.Northeast, who only made three fours, found temporary support in Dan Redfern (26 at a run-a-ball) and later Hamza Riazuddin whose 30 came from just 26 deliveries. But it was too little, too late, as Pienaar grabbed 3 for 28 and Dale Deeb also earned himself three wickets with his left-arm spin.South Africa's 245 for 5 had a much healthier look to it. Both openers fell cheaply, but Rilee Rossouw and Jonathan Vandiar (19 in April, and has a top first-class score of 172*) combined well to thwart England's attack, sharing in a 93-run stand for the third wicket. Rossouw, the more patient of the two, stroked four fours in his fifty while Vandiar, the captain, went on the attack with seven fours and a six.Pienaar iced the cake with a brutal 37 from just 26 balls before causing regular damage as the first-change seamer.
