Diawara salvages point for Getafe

Baba Diawara's 89th-minute equaliser earned Getafe a 1-1 draw and denied Cordoba a first win of the Primera Division season on Friday night.Diawara poked home to cancel out Patrick Ekeng Ekeng's opener in the 78th minute as an otherwise poor match finished in dramatic fashion.Getafe could even have won it at the death, but were denied by the woodwork for the second time in the game. The draw means Cordoba are still looking for their first league win seven games into the new campaign, while their opponents are just three points better off. The visitors had the first sight of goal when Nabil Ghilas fired wide from the right of the area, while at the other end Pablo Sarabia shot over.Naldo had the first chance of the second half for Getafe, but shot over, while Inigo Lopez Montana headed wide for Cordoba. An uneventful game was at last showing signs of bursting into life and Ekeng Ekeng volleyed wide from an Adrian Gunino corner. And it was the Cameroonian midfielder who made the breakthrough with 12 minutes to go, seizing on a loose ball, driving past a defender and into the area before shooting inside the far left post.Getafe's response was impressive with Fredy Hinestroza shooting against a post before Diawara equalised with minutes to go.He stabbed home a low first-time cross from the left from Sergio Escudero. And Escudero almost won it for the hosts four minutes into time added on, but his right-footed effort struck a post.
