- Matías Fernández - 17', 55'
- Mario Gómez - 69'
- Juan Cuadrado - 74'
Cagliari 0-4 Fiorentina
Matias Fernandez scored twice while Mario Gomez was also on the mark as Fiorentina thrashed Cagliari 4-0 to cap a great week for Vincenzo Montella's men.Fiorentina bounced back from successive defeats with victories over Hellas Verona and Guingamp in the last seven days, and Fernandez's 17th-minute goal set them on their way to another triumph on Sunday. The visitors had to wait until the second half to increase their lead, but further strikes from Fernandez, Gomez - his first goal since March having only recently returned from injury - and Juan Cuadrado sealed a deserved win.Fiorentina's 2-1 Europa League victory over Guingamp in midweek ensured they would finish first in their group and the Viola had more to celebrate this weekend, with Fernandez breaking the deadlock after a dominant opening from the visitors at the Stadio San Elia. There was an element of fortune about the goal, though, with the Chile international's inswinging free-kick from near the touchline going straight in, with Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno presumably expecting Fiorentina defender Gonzalo Rodriguez to get a touch on the ball at the near post, rather than completely missing it.Fernandez's second goal in the 55th minute was all down to his own ability, though. After the home side had a promising start to the second half, Cagliari forward Victor Ibarbo was robbed of possession near his own area and, once the ball had been moved on to Fernandez, the former Villarreal and Sporting Lisbon playmaker drilled a 25-yard shot into the bottom corner.Fiorentina's last two goals came following counter-attacks as Cagliari were caught trying to find a way back into the game. The first of them saw Joaquin put Gomez away from just inside the Cagliari line and, with nobody able to get close to the Germany international, he coolly slotted past Alessio Cragno to make it 3-0 and end his long wait to get on the scoresheet once again. That was in the 69th minute and five minutes later the Cagliari defence was opened up again, with Borja Valero this time providing the through-ball for Cuadrado, who raced into the area before beating Cragno with ease. Samuele Longo his the post for the Sardinian hosts late on, but by then there was no doubt where the three points were headed.ends
