Stefan Scepovic goal sees Getafe past Malaga

Stefan Scepovic's early effort was enough to hand Getafe their first points of the new Primera Division season with a 1-0 win over Malaga. The Serbian striker rose in the visitors' box to head home a right wing cross from Victor Rodriguez and get his side's season up and running.Fran Escriba's men had gone into the fixture at Coliseum Alfonso Perez under pressure to perform after losing all three of their opening games of the season. And they will have fancied their chances against a Malaga side whose own poor start leaves them still searching for their first win after two draws from their opening four games.Malaga striker Ricardo Horta missed a number of chances to cancel out Scepovic's early strike while Rodriguez also came close to extending the home side's lead.Horta and Rodriguez had further chances early in the second half before Getafe substitute Santiago Vergini fired a free-kick which was saved by Malaga keeper Carlos Kameni. The visitors increased the pressure in the final quarter-hour with Recio and Brazilian striker Charles both coming close, while Duda missed the target with minutes remaining.Rodriguez came close for Getafe on the counter-attack but the hosts were relieved to hold on for their precious points, with keeper Vicente Guaita sealing victory with a pair of late saves.Getafe will hope to maintain their change in fortunes when they travel to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday while Malaga meet Villarreal the following night.
