Juventus dealt Napoli's Serie A title defence a major blow as they swept to a 3-0 win at the Allianz Stadium.

Jonathan David gave Juve a half-time lead and after containing Napoli for much of the second period, they added further goals through Kenan Yildiz and Filip Kostic to extend their unbeaten home record in all competitions this season.

Juventus midfielder Khéphren Thuram hit the woodwork in the first half as Luciano Spalletti's side followed up their 2-0 midweek Champions League win over Benfica with a sixth league win in their last eight matches.

Napoli missed the chance to climb level with second-placed AC Milan and they trail leaders Inter by nine points after slipping to a first defeat in 10 games in all competitions.

Weston McKennie wasted a golden early chance for Juve when he headed Andrea Cambiaso's cross wide from in front of goal and team-mate Thuram's fierce drive struck a post.

Napoli then threatened through midfielder Antonio Vergara, whose low shot was superbly saved by Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio before Rasmus Hojlund's shot was blocked.

Juve took a 22nd-minute lead thanks to Manuel Locatelli's defence-splitting pass, which sent David clear on goal and the Canada forward drilled a low finish into the bottom corner.

Juve twice went close to doubling their first-half lead. Locatelli skipped past two defenders on the edge of the box and forced Di Gregorio into another fine save, while Thuram saw his goalbound effort diverted for a corner.

Napoli probed patiently at the start of the second half as they looked for a way back into the match and Hojlund flashed a shot inches wide.

Clear-cut chances after the interval were few and far between as Juve worked tirelessly to keep Napoli from building momentum and it was the home side who took control when they added their second goal with 13 minutes left.

Juve worked their way forward and from Fabio Miretti's neat pass inside the area, Turkey forward Yildiz steered the ball home low, beyond Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.

The home side began to play with a swagger and put the result beyond doubt in the 86th minute, with Kostic rifling a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

Napoli substitute Romelu Lukaku fired wide from inside the area in time added on as Antonio Conte's side lost for the fifth time in the league this season, all on the road.

The visitors' winless run at Juventus was also extended to seven matches.
