Mallorca v Real Madrid
Real Madrid suffer late defeat at Mallorca
Relegation-battlers Mallorca stunned Real Madrid as a stoppage-time goal from Vedat Muriqi secured a 2-1 win at Son Moix.
After Mallorca keeper Leo Román had made a string of fine saves, Manu Morlanes fired the home side in front against the run of play just before half-time.
Brazilian defender Éder Militão, back from a lengthy injury lay-off, finally got Los Blancos back on level terms with two minutes left when he powered in a header from a corner.
Kosovo forward Muriqi, though, fired Mallorca back in front in stoppage time following a swift counter-attack.
Real Madrid remain four points off Barcelona ahead of the leaders' clash with Atletico Madrid later on Saturday.
Kylian Mbappé and Trent Alexander-Arnold were both handed starts, with Brazil forward Vinícius Júnior on the bench along with Jude Bellingham, who did not feature in either of England's friendlies over the international break.
After a somewhat scrappy opening, Mbappe sent a cross towards the back post which Manuel Ángel headed straight at Roman.
Mallorca keeper Roman then had to make a smart reaction save with his leg after Mbappe had been sent clear into the penalty area.
In the 26th minute, France forward Mbappe was denied again by another good stop from Roman, diving at full stretch to his right to palm away a curling strike before then saving from Brahim Diaz's volley.
Mallorca created their best opportunity when Muriqi's strike was blocked by Antonio Rüdiger and Morlanes then headed the loose ball over from close range.
Morlanes, though, soon made amends when he fired Mallorca ahead three minutes before half-time, latching onto a cross from Pablo Maffeo and then sending a low shot past Andriy Lunin.
Mbappe remained Real Madrid's main attacking threat and raced clear again down the left early in the second half, but saw his angled shot saved again by Roman before then sending another chance wide.
Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa looked to freshen up his side on the hour when he sent on both Vinícius and Bellingham.
Mallorca, aiming to take themselves out of the bottom three, dug in as Los Blancos struggled for a cutting edge in the final third.
Madrid snatched a late equaliser when Militao -- making his first appearance since December after a hamstring problem -- powered in a header from Alexander-Arnold's corner.
Muriqi, though, secured all three points for Mallorca when he converted a cross from Mateo Joseph following a swift counter, leaving the Kosovo forward -- who saw his country's World Cup qualification hopes ended over the international break -- in tears amid wild celebrations around Son Moix.
