Gokhan Inler joins Leicester City from Napoli

Leicester City have signed midfielder Gokhan Inler from Napoli for an undisclosed fee.

Inler, 31, will join the club on a three-year contract once the formalities are completed.

The Switzerland international, who has 84 caps for his country, is expected to be able to make his debut in the home Premier League clash against Tottenham on Saturday.

Inler told Foxes Player he is "proud" to be moving to the King Power Stadium.

He added: "I'm very happy to be here because it's a nice team. I watch it a lot of times and I like it."

The midfielder was linked with several teams and was even reported to have agreed personal terms with Schalke earlier this summer.

Asked why he chose Leicester, Inler said: "For me it was not so easy because I had many, many teams, but in the end I decide with my heart and I come to Leicester City."

Inler began his career with Basel, Aarau and Zurich before moving to Italy with Udinese in 2007 and then moved on to Napoli in 2011.

He will now link up with Italian boss Claudio Ranieri at the King Power Stadium, and he said: "The manager was important for me, also the director Jon Rudkin and the owners. For me the whole package was very positive because they wanted me and now I'll give everything.

"I feel this is like a family. I saw the games and the fans are behind the team, and I like this very much. My impression is very positive. The team fight every minute and I like it because the fans want this. We must show them this every game on the pitch."

He added: "I'm ready. I had a good preparation in preseason and now I'm ready to give everything for this club.

"I hope I can give my best in the team. My quality will be to provide the passes to the front and with the fast players we've got I think it will be a great mix.

"I think in Italy everybody speaks about the tactics. Every day there we practise tactics, but English football is fast both physically and tactically. I'm in the best league in the world and I'm happy."
