Middlesbrough sign Fabio da Silva from Cardiff City

Middlesbrough have signed Fabio da Silva from Cardiff on a two-year contract, the club have announced.

Fabio, 26, becomes Boro's 10th signing of the summer following Victor Valdes, Gaston Ramirez, Alvaro Negredo, Brad Guzan and Viktor Fischer among others into the club.

The BBC report a fee in the region of £2 million was paid for the former Manchester United defender.

On his official Instagram page Fabio posted a message of excitement about the move.

He said: "I'm very proud and honoured to sign for @theboroofficial. I'm so happy to be back to the @premierleague. I'm looking forward to this new chapter of my career!!"

Meanwhile, Cardiff wished the Brazilian well on his move: "We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Fabio for his contribution during his two and a half years at the club and wish him the very best for his future."
