Toulouse sign former Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo to deal through 2020

Former Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has joined Toulouse after being released by the Gunners this summer.

The 24-year-old has signed a deal tying him to the Ligue 1 club until June 2020, Toulouse have announced.

Arsene Wenger signed Sanogo on a free transfer in 2013 from Ligue 2 club Auxerre.

At the time he was a raw prospect, but was thrown straight into the first team as backup for Olivier Giroud and made 14 appearances in his debut season.

That included a surprising start against Bayern Munich in the Champions League after Giroud was dropped and in the FA Cup semifinal against Wigan.

But Sanogo struggled to progress from then on, in part because of a series of injuries that curtailed his development before Arsenal made the decision to part ways with him at the end of the 2016-17 season.
