Seattle Sounders and Vancouver share the spoils in CCL opener

Lamar Neagle scored for Seattle in the 72nd minute as the Sounders drew with the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-1 in their CONCACAF Champions League game on Wednesday night.

Tim Parker replied for the Whitecaps as both clubs opened Group F play.

Neagle scored off a free-kick that looped over the penalty area to Andy Rose on the right. He sent a ball back into the box to Neagle and he fired a shot high over Paolo Tornaghi.

Parker gave the Whitecaps the lead 11 minutes earlier with a beautiful glancing back-heel flick off Pedro Morales' corner that beat a Troy Perkins to the far post.

The Whitecaps fielded an entirely different starting 11 from their 3-0 road victory over Seattle on Saturday in Major League Soccer, while the Sounders made eight changes.

Meanwhile in Mexico, reigning CCL champions Club America snapped a five-game losing streak by thumping Motagua 4-0.

Ventura Alvarado opened the scoring for the Liga MX side after just two minutes, before Pablo Aguilar, Oribe Peralta and Rubens Sambueza all added their names to the scoresheet.

In Wednesday's other CCL fixture, Panamanian side Arabe Unido beat Montego Bay United 3-0.
