Adelaide United is reportedly waiting on an answer from former German international striker Kevin Kuranyi to become the A-League club's full-season guest marquee player.
The Advertiser claims the Reds have submitted a final offer to the 34-year-old, who last played for Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim, and are expecting a decision from Kuranyi by the weekend.
Football Federation Australia is said to be keen to contribute to Kuranyi's salary, as they did with new Melbourne City recruit Tim Cahill.
Adelaide have been on the hunt for a new striker since the surprise departure last month of Bruce Djite to South Korea and have only one import slot remaining.
Kuranyi did not score a single goal in his 14 league appearances for Hoffenheim last season, but the Brazilian-born star has a strong record in his previous stints for Schalke 04, Dinamo Moscow and VfB Stuttgart with 212 goals in 550 club games.
