Lorient striker Benjamin Jeannot has been given a 10-match ban for pushing a referee during a Ligue 1 game.
Jeannot, 24, will be sidelined until early November following the suspension, handed down by the French Football League's Disciplinary Commission after being sent off for pushing ref Amaury Delerue during Lorient's 3-0 defeat at home to Bastia in August.
"Of course we're disappointed," Lorient vice-president Alex Hayes told L'Equipe. "Before saying any more, we're going to look at the report and we'll see if we'll appeal."
Jeannot, who was Lorient's leading scorer with 14 goals in all competitions last season, will be available again for his team's game at Bordeaux on Nov. 5.
Lorient currently sit bottom of Ligue 1 having lost all four games to date, and are the only team in the French top flight still to pick up a point.
