Having waited 36 years to do so, Peru gave it everything when it came to bellowing out their national anthem ahead of their World Cup opener against Denmark.
The Mordovia Arena in Saransk echoed to the sound of the Himno Nacional as the Incas linked arms and seized the moment.
Alas, it all proved too much for one elated Peruvian fan in the stands as Latina television commentator Coki Gonzales suffered a bit of a head rush.

Gonzales was seen being instructed to take deep breaths and gulps of water by his co-commentator, though thankfully no lasting damage was done.
Coki Gonzales of Latina Television on being overcome during the #PER national anthem: "I broke down... I'm 39 years old now, and never seen Peru at the World Cup. It has been my life's dream, the most important moment in my life."

We don't claim to be medical professionals, but that sounds like a textbook case of World Cup fever to us.
Sadly, Peru ultimately went on to kick off their World Cup with a 1-0 defeat, despite dominating the game for large swathes.
