Erik Lamela and Vincent Janssen have been left out of Tottenham's Champions League squad for the group stage.
Clubs are able to name a maximum of 25 players in the squad but Spurs are limited to just 21 because they only have two "club-trained" players in the squad -- Harry Kane and Danny Rose.
A "club-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 and 21, has been registered with his current club for three seasons and because Spurs have so few their squad size has been reduced in accordance with UEFA's homegrown restrictions.
Lamela has not played since October due to a persistent hip problem and he is still some way from a return after undergoing double hip surgery in May, while Janssen has slipped further down the pecking order following the deadline-day signing of Fernando Llorente.
Neither will be eligible to play against Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund or APOEL in the group stage but clubs can submit a new list for the knockouts in February, should they qualify.
Youngsters Harry Winks and Kyle Walker-Peters are also missing from the list, but both will be eligible to play as they are 21 years old or younger and have been registered to the club for at least two years since turning 15.
New signings Paolo Gazzaniga, Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth and Llorente are all included -- as is Rose, who remains sidelined with a knee injury and criticised the club's ambition, wage structure and transfer policy last month.
Additionally, Spurs have only been able to name two "association-trained" players in the squad in Dele Alli and Kieran Trippier, because England international Eric Dier was raised in Portugal and defender Ben Davies trained under Wales' FA at Swansea.
