Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin is "90 percent sure" to join Inter Milan this summer, a source close to the player has told ESPN FC.
The 33-year-old is out of contract in June, having won eight trophies including a La Liga title since joining from Villarreal in 2010, and has also been linked with Manchester United, AC Milan and Juventus.
However the Uruguay international is almost certain to take up Inter's offer of a three-year contract and leave at the end of the campaign, ESPN FC has been told.
The source maintained it was still possible for Atletico to retain Godin, but a club policy of not giving extensions of more than 12 months to players aged over 30 means that is unlikely.
United made an attempt to sign Godin last summer -- but he cited "personal reasons" for staying in Spain.
It was claimed at that time that Atletico had offered him a deal which ran until June 2021, although no such agreement was ever signed.
Godin is not the only experienced Atletico defender in a similar situation, with full-backs Juanfran, 34, and Filipe Luis, 33, also coming to the end of their deals and likely to move on.
Meanwhile, Lucas Hernandez has agreed a move to Bayern Munich in the summer, after the Bundesliga leaders met the France international's €80 million buy-out clause.
Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico is among the potential replacements for Hernandez, according to ESPN FC sources.
The Rojiblanco hierarchy are also looking at Benfica's Ruben Diaz, Getafe's Mathias Olivera and Porto's Alex Telles.
