Golfers with par-5 prowess for the Deutsche Bank Championship

Can Adam Scott get his game in order and make a run at the Deutsche Bank Championship? AP

The first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs is complete and the field has now been reduced by 25 golfers ahead of this week's event, the Deutsche Bank Championship. For fantasy purposes, the strategy of the FedEx Cup evolves week by week.

Last week, close to two-thirds of the golfers in the field made the cut, which played very much like a traditional invitational event during the season (which normally feature around 120 players). This meant that fantasy owners needed to be more aggressive in selecting their rosters, as even some teams with six players making the cut were unable to finish in the money, given the ease with which players made the cut.

This week, the normal cut rules (top 70 golfers plus ties) apply to an even smaller field, which means that somewhere close to 75 to 80 percent of the field will play the weekend. While this does not allow owners to be reckless, it does give them room to work deeper into the salary tiers, particularly for GPP contests.
