Kyle Vinales hearing set for Dec. 5

Central Connecticut State guard Kyle Vinales was arrested Friday after an altercation with his girlfriend.

He was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, according to the New Britain Herald.

Vinales' court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 5, and it's unclear when Vinales will return to the team.

"Kyle is not currently participating in men's basketball team activities," a school spokesman told ESPN.com.

Vinales was named preseason first-team all-Northeast Conference after averaging 17.3 points as a junior and 21.6 points as a sophomore. The Detroit native is also the league's active leading scorer, totaling more than 1,500 career points in three seasons.

Central Connecticut State was picked second in the NEC preseason coaches' poll despite finishing 11-19 last season. Vinales was among five returning starters.
