Louisville dismisses Chris Jones

Less than a week after suspending and reinstating Chris Jones, Louisville coach Rick Pitino has dismissed the senior guard from the program.

The school announced the decision on Sunday afternoon.

Jones was suspended for Wednesday's game against Syracuse for non-basketball reasons, but was reinstated and played 36 minutes and scored 17 points in Saturday's victory against Miami.

Jones, who was averaging 13.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists, came to Louisville from the junior college ranks prior to last season. His minutes will likely be taken by freshman Quentin Snider, who scored 13 points in 38 minutes in the loss to Syracuse.

Louisville is 21-5 and faces Georgia Tech on Monday.
