HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- Northern Kentucky has fired Dave Bezold after 11 years as coach.
Bezold was 194-133 with the Norse but went 13-17 this season, his third straight losing campaign in a four-year transition to Division I. NKU was 33-54 the three past years.
The Norse finished tied for fourth in the Atlantic Sun Conference and lost 76-73 in overtime to Lipscomb in a conference tournament quarterfinal.
The school announced Monday on its website that it will begin a national search for Bezold's replacement.
NKU athletic director Ken Bothof said in a statement that firing Bezold was "difficult given Dave's role in our university and our community. Dave is a good man and has given much of himself to the development of the young men in our basketball program."
