Wichita State assistant Steve Forbes has reached an agreement to be the next head coach at East Tennessee State, sources told ESPN.
Forbes has spent the past two seasons on Gregg Marshall's staff after a two-year stint as the head coach at Northwest Florida State, where he went 61-6 in the junior college ranks. He was also on Bruce Pearl's staff at Tennessee for five seasons.
Forbes would replace Murry Bartow, who was fired after 12 seasons in charge of the Buccaneers. He led them to the NCAA tournament in 2009 and 2010, but failed to finish in the top three of the league the past four seasons.
ETSU went 16-14 overall this past season, 8-10 in the Southern Conference.
