Texas-San Antonio has fired men's basketball coach Brooks Thompson after 10 seasons, the school announced.
Thompson, 45, was 128-151 at UTSA heading into this season, leading the Roadrunners to the NCAA tournament in 2011 -- and beating Alabama State in one of the First Four games. He also helped UTSA transition into two new conferences, moving from the Southland to the WAC in 2012 and then from the WAC to Conference USA in 2013.
UTSA struggled this past season, finishing 5-27 overall and 3-15 in Conference USA.
Thompson played for five teams in the NBA before spending time as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State, Southeastern Louisiana and Arizona State, as well as time as head coach at Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.
He signed a contract extension in 2013 through the 2016-17 season.
