Report: Siena hires Jimmy Patsos

A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press that Siena has hired Jimmy Patsos as its basketball coach, replacing Mitch Buonaguro.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the school is not announcing Patsos' hiring until Wednesday afternoon.

Patsos went 145-135 in nine seasons at Loyola (Md.), including an 11-9 mark against Siena. The schools have been rivals in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, though Loyola is leaving for the Patriot League this fall.

Buonaguro went 35-59 in three seasons with the Saints.

Patsos led Loyola to the NCAA tournament in 2012, and his stint with the Greyhounds may be best remembered for his decision to double-team Stephen Curry for the entire game against Davidson in 2008. Curry was held scoreless, but Loyola lost 78-48.
