The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Lars Nootbaar on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain Friday.
Nootbaar, 26, is batting .234 with 5 homers and 19 RBIs in 39 games while playing all three outfield spots.
The Cardinals recalled infielder Jose Fermin from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding transaction.
Fermin, 25, is hitting .200 (3-for-15) with one stolen base in nine appearances with St. Louis this season.
