The start time of Tuesday's game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Houston Rockets will be adjusted to minimize a potential conflict with Game 6 of the World Series in Cleveland.
The Cavs submitted a request to move the start time of the game at Quicken Loans Arena to 6 p.m. ET, which was approved by the league. The game was originally scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
The first pitch of Game 6 between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field is set for 8:08 p.m. ET.
Kyrie Irving said he and his Cavs teammates plan on attending the World Series in person after the Rockets game concludes.
"It'll be an experience of a lifetime," Irving said. "Game 6 of the World Series, man, hoo, that's big time. I'm excited for them. I know the city is. I'm happy our game got moved up. I don't mind moving it for the World Series at all. It'll be an exciting time. Hopefully we can get a suite and we can walk over there as a team and watch our home team go for a championship as well."
The World Series and the NBA game are played in neighboring venues, and players share the same underground tunnel for both Progressive Field and Quicken Loans Arena.
As the Cavs did for Games 1 and 4 of the World Series already, the team will keep Quicken Loans Arena open for fans who came to the Cavs game to watch the rest of the Indians game on the team's "humungotron" video board.
Earlier Monday, ESPN reported that the Rockets had inquired with the league about an earlier start time, as well. Whenever the Rockets-Cavs game concludes, the Rockets will receive a police escort to the airport so they can get to New York, where they play the Knicks on Wednesday night.
