Magic guard Michael Carter-Williams' hip injury not as severe as feared

The Orlando Magic got good news Wednesday when an MRI examination determined reserve guard Michael Carter-Williams's left hip injury was not as severe as feared.

No exact timetable has been set for his return, but the seven-year veteran will definitely miss at least Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors. Carter-Williams, 28, had season-ending surgery on the same hip in March 2016 while with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Carter-Williams suffered the injury during a 125-121 victory over the Washington Wizards on Sunday, and coach Steve Clifford said the team is awaiting further diagnoses before putting an exact timetable on his return.

Carter-Williams has appeared in 10 games and is averaging 4.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game this season. In 325 career games, he has averaged 10.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
