SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Tre Bowman had 28 points, David Laury had 18 points and 11 rebounds and top-seeded Iona handled eighth-seeded Rider 94-71 on Saturday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference quarterfinals.
The Gaels (21-9) opened on a 15-4 run, led 50-34 at halftime and never trailed in the game. After Rider (14-17) closed to 65-53, Iona went on a 15-3 run to put the Broncs comfortably out of reach. The Gaels advance to face No. 4 seed Canisius (21-11) in the MAAC semifinals on Sunday.
Bowman was 5 of 9 from 3-point range and Sean Armand was 4 of 7. As a team, the Gaels shot 11 of 25 from distance and 31 of 52 overall (59.6 percent).
Armand finished with 20 points and Isaiah Williams added 12.
Anthony Myles had 19 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead the way for Rider. Jimmie Taylor added 14 points and Daniel Stewart scored 12.
