The holiday season means the NFL playoffs are inching closer and, most importantly for Green Bay Packers fans, the Toyotathon is underway.
The yearly sales event by Toyota -- who became the NFL's official automotive partner in October 2023 -- offers special deals on vehicles and typically runs from mid-November to early January. It is one of the automobile dealer's biggest events, which happens to enhance the performance of Packers quarterback Jordan Love, who faces the Seattle Seahawks on "Sunday Night Football."
Love is having another strong year. He's thrown for 2,724 yards plus 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. But, a TikTok in September pointed out that Love's numbers tend to increase during Toyotathon. ESPN's Mina Kimes acknowledged the trend, too.
In the eight games during the event last season, Love went 6-2 with 2,150 passing yards and a touchdown interception ratio of 18-to-1. He resumed that pace so far this season, with a 3-1 record since Nov. 17, throwing for 904 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.
The numbers are even more jarring when looking at the quarterback's stats earlier in the season.
As a starter during the last two seasons, Love holds a 7-9 record with a touchdown interception ratio of 29-20, completion percentage of 60% and 58 total QBR. It's a whole different story once the Toyotathon hits.
Love is 9-3, throwing 22 touchdowns and three interceptions while raising his completion percentage (69%) and total QBR (77). This season, he's leading the league in yards per dropback (9.6) and is third in total QBR (82), trailing Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford.
With the Packers (9-4) in the heat of the NFC's playoff seeding, Toyotathon might be what puts them in prime position for a Super Bowl LIX run.
