A 79th-minute try for replacement Camille Chat saw Racing 92 grab a dramatic 29-22 win over Stade Francais in the Paris derby at Colombes on Saturday.
After Juan Imhoff for the hosts and Julian Arias for the visitors had exchanged tries, the game looked to be headed for a draw when Jules Plisson landed a penalty for Stade to draw the sides level in the 77th minute.
In the end though the Top 14 champions were rewarded for their 80-minute effort, and they remain undefeated at home this season.
An 18-point haul from Ben Botica helped Montpellier defeat Castres 28-19 at home. Despite Castres crossing for a try first, through Remy Grosso, the home side struck back and a try from Akapusi Quera saw them lead 19-13 at half-time.
Botica added two penalties, with Rory Kockott and Benjamin Urdapilleta replying with a penalty apiece for Castres. It closed the gap to six points with nine minutes remaining, but Botica had the final say with a penalty to secure the win, four minutes from time.
Bordeaux-Bègles cemented their position in the top half of the table after a narrow 27-25 win over Brive in Bordeaux. Australian wingers Adam Ashley-Cooper and Blair Connor scored a try in either half to help record their fifth win of the campaign to date.
Brive had to wait until injury time to score their only try of the game through Sisa Koyamaibole. That score, and 18 points from Thomas Laranjeira clinched a losing bonus-point for the visitors who fell to only their third defeat of the season.
Grenoble recovered from an early 3-9 deficit to score five tries in a 44-16 demolition of Bayonne. Despite taking that early lead, Bayonne had a players sin-binned in each half. Steven Setephano and Nigel Hunt scored converted tries in the last 10 minutes of the half to give them a 20-9 lead at the break.
After Sona Taumalolo extended Grenoble's lead, Manu Saubusse replied for Bayonne who capitulated late on. Grenoble scored two tries in the final six minutes through Alexandre Dardet and Maritino Nemani to climb above Bayonne, who are now bottom of the table.
The final Top14 kickoff of the day resulted in a 17-17 draw between La Rochelle and Toulon at the Stade Marcel Deflandre.
