Chris Farrell will make his first start of this year's Six Nations on Saturday, replacing injured Garry Ringrose in the centre as Ireland face Scotland.
Farrell is partnered by Bundee Aki, while Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton have been named at 9 and 10, respectively.
Head coach Joe Schmidt has made further changes ahead of the second-round match against Scotland at Murrayfield, as Quinn Roux comes in at lock in place of the injured Devin Toner, and Sean O'Brien and Jack Conan are introduced to the back row.
Rob Kearney comes in at fullback for Robbie Henshaw, who was a surprise inclusion at full-back for Ireland's opening defeat against England.
"Robbie has a dead leg and just hasn't recovered in time," Schmidt said.
"We're just going to have to forge ahead, but it's an exciting opportunity to give Chris Farrell a run against Scotland. He's coming back to form after a long lay-off."
Ireland's front row remains unchanged from the defeat to England, with captain Rory Best starting alongside Cian Healy and Tadhg Furlong.
Meanwhile, Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has made four changes to his side for the Ireland clash.
Townsend has included last year's top try-scoring Saracens wing Sean Maitland, who has recovered from a hamstring injury to replace last weekend's hat-trick try-scorer Blair Kinghorn, who is benched.
Maitland will form a back-three with fellow British & Irish Lions Tommy Seymour and Stuart Hogg. The trio have a combined 150 caps and 49 tries for Scotland, and Feb. 9. marks their 18th Scotland test start as a back-three.
Elsewhere, prop Simon Berghan and back-row Josh Strauss come in for forwards Willem Nel and Sam Skinner, who are nursing calf and ankle injuries, respectively. Jonny Gray's recovery from a shoulder injury sees him start ahead of second-row Ben Toolis, who will be a replacement.
Townsend said: "We picked up two injuries from last week with WP [Nel] and Sam [Skinner] missing out, which is disappointing for us and them, but have had a boost with a number of proven test players returning from injury and available to us this week."
