Pressure is mounting on All Blacks coach Ian Foster and the New Zealand Rugby board after New Zealand lost their first series at home since 1998, falling to Ireland in the decider in Wellington on Saturday night.
Foster was set to face the media on Sunday morning at a scheduled press conference, instead the media event was cancelled last minute with waiting journalists told he would not be making an appearance following his side's 10-point loss.
In a statement, New Zealand rugby boss Mark Robinson said the board would be working closely with Foster to identify areas of improvement within the team.
"Congratulations to the Irish team for their well-deserved win last night but clearly the performance across the series for the All Blacks was not acceptable as we know they have reflected," Robinson said.
"We all know there is a huge amount of work to do. Our focus now is to work with Ian and his team to understand thoroughly in advance of the Rugby Championship what is needed to improve performance and where to from here [sic]. We will begin this work immediately."
The All Blacks have now lost four of their last five matches, dropping Foster's win percentage to 67 percent, while his team has slumped to an all-time low of fourth on the World Rugby rankings, falling behind France, Ireland and South Africa.
Foster refused to discuss his future at Saturday night's post-match press conference, with many calling for his sacking.
"I just want to talk about this test match," said Foster.
"New Zealand has to realise this is a very good Irish team and give them some credit. It would be disrespectful to not make that the number one item. They've come and achieved something pretty special and they deserve a bit of time in the sun for that.
"For us, we're a group working hard. We've got a lot of belief in many of the solutions we've got but we've got to get better at executing them. We've been given a real marker in the sand for where we're at."
With just three weeks until the All Blacks open their Rugby Championship campaign against the Springboks, the NZR board will likely move quickly if they're to make any coaching changes.
