India's Yashaswani Deswal won gold in the 10m air pistol event after shooting a score of 238.8 in the final at the New Delhi World Cup on Saturday. Her compatriot Manu Bhaker claimed silver with a score of 236.7.
Belarus' Viktoria Chaika, meanwhile, staged a remarkable comeback to edge India's Shri Nivetha Paramanantham for bronze, shooting 215.9
Apart from the first round, when Bhaker was in the lead by 0.7 points, Deswal was in control of the entire final, stretching her lead round-by-round with a display of superbly accurate shooting.
The two shooters had already secured Olympic quotas in 2019.
Earlier, Deswal had topped qualifying by shooting 579, with Bhaker second with a score of 577. Paramanantham had qualified fourth with 575.
For World No. 4 Deswal, this is her second gold medal, having won gold in this event in the Rio World Cup in 2019. World No.2 Bhaker, meanwhile, had won gold in the last World Cup to take place before the pandemic closed the shooting circuit down, in Putian, China. Across 10m air pistol and the 10m mixed team event, she has six World Cup golds.

India's Saurabh Chaudhary has won silver in the 10m air pistol event after shooting a score of 243.2 in the final at the New Delhi World Cup on Saturday. His compatriot Abhishek Verma claimed bronze with a score of 221.8. Iran's Javad Foroughi won gold with 243.6.
In a thrilling shootout at the end, Chaudhary took a lead of 0.3 with the second last shot, only to shoot a 9.8 with his final shot. Foroughi, shooting after Chaudhary, took his time before nailing a 10.5 to seal his first ever World Cup gold.
India's Shahzar Rizvi finished fifth.
Chaudhary and Verma had both earned quotas for the Tokyo Olympics in 2019.
Earlier, Chaudhary had topped qualifying, scoring 587. Verma qualified second with 583 while Rizvi was fourth with 580.
World no. 4 Chaudhary has won this event twice at World Cups, in New Delhi and Munich. He has 6 world cup golds in total, including the mixed team event. World no. 2 Verma, meanwhile, has 2 World Cup golds, both won in 2019 - in Beijing and Rio de Janeiro.
Earlier on Saturday, Divyansh Singh Panwar had kicked off proceedings for India with a bronze in the 10m air rifle.
