John Isner continued his fine form at the Miami Open as he earned a second straight victory over a top 10 player to reach the last four at Crandon Park.
Isner defeated fourth seed Kei Nishikori 6-4 6-3 to earn a semi-final spot, having already defeated sixth seed Milos Raonic in the previous round.
Before arriving in Miami, Isner had lost 11 straight matches against top 10 players but now appears to be flying: he has yet to have his serve broken this tournament and becomes the first American man to reach the final four at Key Biscayne since Mardy Fish in 2011.
Having dispatched Nishikori in just 70 minutes on court - without allowing his opponent a single break point - Isner will next face the winner of Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer for a place in Sunday's final.
In the women's draw, Carla Suarez-Navarro became the first Spanish woman to reach the Miami final since 1993 after beating Andrea Petkovic 6-3 6-3 earlier on Thursday.
