When Andy Murray came into his press conference after reaching the Wimbledon semifinals he didn't look on top of his game.
Shivering and almost rattling his teeth, the world No.3 appeared to be a pale shadow of the assured, athletic player who had just efficiently dispensed with Vasek Pospisil to set up a meeting with Roger Federer on Friday.
Was it that he had been put on edge by the raft of famous fans who had been to see his match on Centre Court? After all, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were there and met him afterward. So, too, did British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, whose fortunes Murray is known to follow.
"I spoke to Joshua just before I came in. I met him a couple of times. He's a nice guy. Scary guy, but he's a nice guy," smiled Murray in his post-match press conference on Wednesday.
Then there was being in the presence of David Beckham, who has been known to send a shiver or two down the spine of some of his fans. Murray called him an 'icon' but hardly looked in awe of the former England captain.
The 2013 Wimbledon champion also chatted about his latest match to "William and Catherine", but that would hardly cause him to blow repeatedly into his hands while in a warm press conference room.
At last, a spokesman for Murray provided the answer for his slightly off-colour look: he'd just emerged from an 8-degrees-Centigrade ice bath. Somehow, it didn't make him look cool.
