Federico Coria approached about match fixing, awaits discipline

LONDON -- Federico Coria, who is ranked 335th and is the younger brother of 2004 French Open finalist Guillermo Coria, will be disciplined for failing to report to tennis authorities that he had been approached about fixing matches.

The announcement Friday by the Tennis Integrity Unit comes a day after another Argentine, Nicolas Kicker, was found to have fixed two lower-tier matches in 2015.

Federico Coria did not accept money or throw any sets or matches. But because he did not inform the investigative arm of the sport's anti-corruption program, he will be sanctioned at an undetermined date.

The unit said Coria was approached in July 2015 and offered payment if he lost a set in a lower-tier Futures tournament in Sassuolo, Italy. A month later, he was again approached with a "financial incentive" to lose matches during the course of a year.
