Onyenwere, Canada lead No. 14 UCLA women past Utah 81-74

SALT LAKE CITY -- Michaela Onyenwere and Jordin Canada scored 20 points each to lead No. 14 UCLA past Utah for an 81-74 win Friday night.

Clinging to a 67-66 lead in the fourth quarter, UCLA (12-4, 3-2 Pac-12) got a layup from Canada to spark a 5-0 spurt and hung on from the free-throw line over the final four minutes to seal it. The Bruins shot just 36 percent from the field but controlled the glass 46-36, including a 20-7 edge in offensive rebounds.

Onyenwere also had 11 rebounds to get her first career double-double and Canada dished out eight assists.

In the third quarter, Utah (12-4, 3-2) used a 7-0 run fueled by Daneesha Provo to tie the game at 47 before Onyenwere put UCLA back on top with a layup. The Utes tied it up twice more before edging into their first lead of the second half on Tilar Clark's layup to make it 53-51, but Kennedy Burke drained a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to put UCLA back on top for good, 59-57.
